NICO Hosts Brokers Workshop to Strengthen Industry Partnerships

NICO Life (NICO General and NICO Pensions) has reaffirmed its commitment to strategic partnerships by hosting a high-level Brokers Workshop aimed at enhancing collaboration, knowledge sharing, and service delivery across the life insurance sector.
Held under the theme of mutual growth and customer-centricity, the workshop brought together key players from the broker community to engage on pressing industry issues,, including product innovation, claims management, digital transformation, and operational efficiency.

Speaking during the event, NICO Life’s Chief Operating Officer, Chimwemwe Kanyenda, emphasized the importance of brokers as critical partners in expanding insurance access in Malawi.

“Brokers are not just intermediaries; they are advisors and advocates who help bridge the gap between insurers and clients. This workshop is part of our ongoing efforts to equip and empower them with the tools and insights needed to better serve the market,” he said.

The workshop featured interactive sessions and open forums that allowed brokers to provide direct feedback on areas for improvement, particularly in claims turnaround times and policy issuance. NICO Life also shared its plans to continuously improve product offerings and service delivery.

Kanyenda confirmed that the workshop will now be an annual event as part of the company’s strategy to build a more connected and responsive insurance ecosystem.

“We believe in partnerships that grow together. By engaging our brokers more frequently and meaningfully, we are confident that we can raise the standard of insurance delivery in Malawi,” he added.

However, Moreen Kambalame Thole, who is the business development manager for the resilient insurance agency,, which is an agent for NICO, says the workshop helps her to keep aligned with the products that NICO is offering andmove along with NICO’s projections.

She thinks the new products will help people to choose from.

“For me this workshop helps me to confidently pass on the information to my own clients and to serve them better.” She said.

The workshop underscores NICO Life’s drive to lead the market through innovation, collaboration, and a firm commitment to customer experience.
