Archery Association Set to Boost the Sport with New Equipment Support

The Archery Association of Malawi is excited about the future of the sport following a major boost in the form of equipment donated by World Archery.

For years, the association has struggled due to a lack of proper gear, but things are now looking up. Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, the association’s vice president, Henry Sakala, expressed gratitude and said they are now ready to take archery to the next level in Malawi.

“We’re truly thankful to the Malawi National Council of Sports for helping us secure a duty waiver and to the Malawi Olympic Committee for assisting with clearing and processing the equipment at Kamuzu International Airport,” said Sakala.

The donated gear—worth K5 million—includes bows, arrows, limbs, strings, and other essential accessories. Sakala added that the equipment will be handed over to trained coaches who completed their training last year to help grow the sport at the grassroots level.

He also shared that the donation will strengthen their collaboration with the Malawi Schools Sports Association (MASSA) as they work together to introduce and promote archery in schools across the country.
