A top-of-the-table clash in the NBS Bank National Division League between Mitundu Baptist FC and Namitete Zitha awaits at Civo Stadium in one of the three matches taking place on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides are unbeaten, level on points in the second-tier division with 6 points each, but Mitundu leads with a superior goal difference.
Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, the two sides’ coaches were cautious going into the game, but they were both confident that they would walk away with maximum points.
“It’s going to be a tough match judging by the way Namitete has been playing lately. We need to be at our best and tactically disciplined if we are to come out with a result. Without necessarily putting pressure on ourselves, it’s a very important game. Three points will, of course, push us
“We respect Namitete Zitha, and with little to separate us from them judging by the results, it will be a game of chances. I have told my boys to make sure that they convert the chances that come our way if we are to come back with a result,” said Mitundu mentor Audlow Makonyola.
His counterpart, Namitete Zitha coach Richard Fosko, is confident of guiding the team to another victory, saying they will need to be merciless against Mitundu in a quest to increase their lead to nine points.
“We have trained well, and I am confident my players will get the better of their opponents. We know their strengths and weaknesses and will exploit them while remaining sharp in both attack and defense, as any complacency can easily be punished,” he said.
“Football is a game that we need to enjoy every moment because once you get under pressure, there are certain parts of the game that you will not enjoy. We are looking forward to the game and hoping that the boys will execute the plan well on the day,” said Fosko.
